લતા મંગેશકર (જન્મે હેમા મંગેશકર; ૨૮ સપ્ટેમ્બર, ૧૯૨૯ - ૬ ફેબ્રુઆરી ૨૦૨૨), ભારતના પાશ્વગાયિકા અને પ્રસંગોપાત સંગીત નિર્દેશક હતા. તેઓ ભારતના સૌથી મહાન અને ખ્યાતનામ ગાયિકા ગણાય છે. તેમની છ દાયકાની કારકિર્દીમાં સૌથી વધુ ખ્યાતિ તેમનેે હિન્દી પાર્શ્વ ગાયિકા તરીકેની મળી હતી.

લતા મંગેશકરનો જન્મ ઈંદોર, મધ્ય પ્રદેશમાં થયો હતો. તેમના પિતા, પંડિત દિનાનાથ મંગેશકર કે જે ગોવાના ગોમાન્તક મરાઠા સમાજ કુટુંબ સાથે સંકળાયેલ છે, એક શાસ્ત્રીય ગાયક અને થિયેટર અભિનેતા હતા. તેમની માતા શેવંતી (સુધામતી) દિનાનાથ ના બીજા પત્ની, જે થાલનેર, મહારાષ્ટ્રથી હતા. આ કુટુંબ હરદિકર અટક ધરાવતુ હતુ, ત્યારબાદ તેમના વતન ગોવામાં મંગેશી ગામ પરથી તેમની અટક મંગેશકર રાખી. લતાજીનું બાળપણ નુ નામ "હેમા" નામ હતું.

Lata Mangeshkar was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. His father, Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar, who belonged to the Gomantak Maratha Samaj family of Goa, was a classical singer and theater actor. His mother Shevanti (Sudhamati) was the second wife of Dinanath, who was from Thalner, Maharashtra. The family had the surname Hardikar, then changed their surname Mangeshkar from Mangeshi village in their native Goa. Lataji's childhood name was "Hema".
