What else happened with independence on 15 August 1947?
India got independence after a long struggle on August 15, 1947, this day is celebrated with great pomp. In this year we are going to celebrate 74th Independence Day in our country. Today I am going to tell you some interesting things related to 15th August :-
Mahatma Gandhi was instrumental in getting India's independence. But on 15 August 1947, when India became our independent country, Mahatma Gandhi could not participate in this celebration, because on this day Mahatma Gandhi was sitting on a fast in Noakhali, Bengal to stop the communal violence.
India became independent on 15 August 1947, but at that time India did not have any national anthem of its own. Rabindranath Tagore had written Jana-gana-mana in 1911 itself, but this national anthem was made in 1950.
The boundary line between India and Pakistan was not determined till 15 August. This was decided by the announcement of the Radcliffe Line on 17 August.
Every year on the occasion of Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India hoists the flag from the Red Fort, but this did not happen on August 15, 1947. According to a research paper of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Nehru unfurled the flag from the Red Fort on August 16, 1947.
