Two trains depart from Ahmedabad simultaneously. A train travels 60 km to the north. Per hour and another train 40 km south. Runs at a speed of per hour. After how many hours will both the trains be at a distance of 150 km?
(A) 15/2
(B) 3/4
(C) 3/2
(D) 4/3
Solution
One train travels north at 60 km / h and the other train travels south at 40 km / h. Since both the trains are moving in opposite directions, the distance between them increases to 60 + 40 = 100 km per hour.
At a distance of 100 km, 1 hour has passed.
When at a distance of 150 km .... ??
= (150 × 1) / 100.
= (3/2) hours
