The "Srimaddevi Mahapuran" mentions about the parents of Lord Shiva. According to "Srimaddevi Mahapuran",
once when Narad ji asked his father Brahma ji, who created the universe? Also who is Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and your father? Then Brahma ji told Narad ji about the birth of the trinity.
He told that Brahma Vishnu and Mahesh have originated from the combination of Goddess Durga and Shiva form Brahma.
That is, Durga in nature is the mother of all three of us and Brahma i.e. Kaal Sadashiv is our father.
